Encasing CANTEX Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC Conduit in cement is similar to a direct burial installation, but there are some differences.

1. When CANTEX Schedule 40 or 80 PVC Conduit is encased in cement, the process begins the same as the direct burial process—The crew digs the trench.
2. However, when a crew is encasing Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC Pipe in cement after digging is completed, CANTEX PVC Base Spacers MUST be placed in rows in the trench. The amount of PVC base spacers depends upon how many rows of conduit are being installing. The trade size of the spacers to be used and the required separation space for the spacers must follow the NEC 70 spacer requirements, according to the size of the pipe. 3. After the PVC pipe is inserted above the spacers, the rows of CANTEX PVC Intermediate Spacers are connected to the base spacers for every row of pipe. CANTEX PVC Base Spacers have a locking mechanism for an easy and secure connection.
4. This entire installation process needs to be repeated for every 10 to 20 feet, depending upon the length of the conduit. Once again, CANTEX PVC Pipe Solvent Cement needs to be applied with a dauber in between each run.
5. Once all the runs of conduit are in place and properly connected, the crew fills the trench with cement.
