TYPES OF CANTEX PVC PIPE AND ELECTRICAL CONDUIT
Schedule 40 PVC Pipe
Schedule 40 PVC Conduit electrical pipe is used for electrical wiring in walls, floors and ceilings in accordance with NEC 352. According to NEC 352 it can also be buried directly into the earth, encased in concrete, and used in areas exposed to direct sunlight.
Schedule 80 PVC Pipe
For areas where your PVC electrical pipe will be subject to physical damage, you should use Schedule 80 PVC Conduit for the same applications as Schedule 40 PVC Pipe. This is because Schedule 80 PVC Pipe is stronger and more durable. For example, Schedule 80 PVC is used more often for outdoor installations because of its durability. The walls of Schedule 80 PVC are actually thicker than than Schedule 40 PVC.
